Five products,
one problem.

Fowdaily builds software for small French organisations that look after real things: a building, a fleet of equipment, a harbour, a clinic’s animals.

These trades resemble each other more than they appear to. They employ between two and fifty people. They are held to precise French obligations — an Article 25 majority, a compliant invoice, a vaccination certificate. And they nearly all run on the same toolkit: a ring binder, a spreadsheet, and a WhatsApp thread that serves as collective memory until the day somebody leaves the group.

Why five products rather than one

It is a fair question, so here is the answer. A generic job-management tool does not know what an ownership share is, and a building-management tool cannot read an electricity meter on a pontoon. What is shared is the engine — accounts, roles, offline, exports, invoicing — not the vocabulary. So we write the engine once and the trade as many times as it takes, rather than selling five sets of customers a tool that knows none of them.

Five products, four trades

Both counts are right, and the gap deserves explaining. Animal health is served by two products rather than one: GoodVet is the clinic’s software, sold to the practice; GoodPaw is the owner’s app, free to them. Two sets of customers, two price lists, two sales cycles — so two products, not one product with two screens.

What they share is not the interface, it is the record: one server, one database. The vet writes the report in GoodVet and the owner opens it in GoodPaw — there is nothing to export, nothing to synchronise, and no connector that can fail on a Friday evening. It is also what the clinic is really buying: not one more medical record, but the end of certificates re-sent by hand.

A sixth line of enquiry, ApexScout, appears on this site without being part of the count. It is a study: the technical feasibility is settled, whether anyone would pay is not, and until that is answered there is no product. We would rather say so than let it be assumed.

How we work

French is not a translation: the interface has been French since the first commit, and so are the business rules. The field apps work offline, because a boiler room has no signal. And every product can export the whole of an account’s data on request — you have to be able to leave.
